Birds Bakery customers will now be able to enjoy its baked goods while sitting indoors, following latest government guidelines that indoor hospitality seating can re-open from Monday 17 May.
The well-established bakery will be opening a selection of its stores that offer indoor seating for groups up to six, or two households, as restrictions are eased under the lockdown roadmap.
With 62 stores across the Midlands, Birds recently opened its latest store located on Melton Road, West Bridgford earlier this year, which will now be able to open its indoor seating area for the first time.
The former Victorian building has been transformed from a launderette into a café and shop on the ground floor in the bakery’s signature style, including socially distanced seating for 24 people.

Lesley Bird, chief operating officer at Birds Bakery, said: “We are so delighted to welcome back our customers and we are really looking forward to seeing them enjoying the brand-new seating area at our Melton Road store in particular.
“The new store features a number of seating areas, café style chairs, tables and comfy sofas in the bay window for a welcoming and pleasant experience and is the first store we have opened that has such a wide range of seating on offer.
“We have been working hard behind the scenes to ensure the safety of our customers, and all stores that will be open with indoor seating will be socially distanced and equipped with hand sanitisers readily available. We can’t wait to see you all soon.”
The Birds Bakery stores that will reopen for indoor seating on 17 May are: Albert Street, Crown Walk and Ashbourne all in Derby, and Arnold, Beeston, West Bridgford, Wollaton, Victoria Centre and Melton Road all in Nottingham, as well as Lichfield in Tamworth.
